Shangla is land of natural beauty, long green trees, high mountains, sweet springs, thick forest and streams, was earlier sub-division of Swat District. In 1995 after long movement and endeavors of its people the then Chief Minister of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao upgraded it to the status of a District. According census of 1998 its population was 434563 which are 2.5% of the total population of the Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, while its current population is 541000.
Shahpur is a small village in shangla district. interestingly most of the vilages in shangla are self sufficient in power generation. they very efficiently use the the hydel energy of the streams water by building water channels and installing power generators which provide electricity to the whole village. similarly water mills are installed which use water energy to grind maize and wheat like those in old days before the invention of electric mills.
It is a very beautiful village. it is accessible both from swat as well as Hazara express way via thakot and bisham.
